The Hall was built in 1957 by public subscription and is named in memory of the men of the Parish who died in the two World Wars and as such the Hall is a registered War Memorial. At the time of its construction the Parish had used an ex-army WW I hut as a Village Hall, a replacement was urgently needed, so in spite of the restrictions at the time, land was given and the money raised. The original purpose of the Hall has remained true over the years and still today is the focal point in the Parish for meetings, events and entertainment. It has excellent acoustics and has one of the finest sprung dance floors in the district. The Hall is a registered charity with a volunteer management committee responsible for raising its own funds to cover all maintenance and day to day running costs, which in a building some 60 years old is no mean feat. The committee are always interesting in welcoming new members who can bring different strengths to the group. The Hall has weekday classes for fitness, dancing and special interest groups and is the venue for children’s parties, quiz nights, public meetings, live entertainment, local amateur dramatic groups and as a polling station for elections.
